Program Summary

Open from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with pre and post-camp extension options, the JCC Day Camp offers premium summer programs infused with Jewish values and culture from kindergarten through high school.

Located on the Longmeadow/Springfield line, Camp JCC is easily accessible for CT and MA residents. Camp JCC is located on 20 acres of beautiful grounds with basketball and tennis courts, a playground, athletic fields, woods, a high and low ropes course, a zip line, a picnic grove, a pavilion, and more. Additionally, its air-conditioned indoor facility boasts rock climbing, a fitness center, a stage, an arts and crafts studio, and more.

With the encouragement and guidance of our highly-skilled staff, campers participate in programs and activities that have been designed to foster learning, growth, creativity, teamwork, and above all, safe fun. Instruction from our arts and crafts, music, nature, ropes course, and sports specialists will help them discover their hidden talents. Whether making new friends or developing new skills, JCC campers will experience their best summer ever!

Essential Functions

  • o Plan and execute a diverse, engaging, accessible, and inclusive Jewish Life curriculum (including Israel Day) that can be modified for children from Kindergarten through high school.
  • o Working with other camp staff to help enhance the wider offerings of camp
  • o Ensure the day-to-day safety and happiness of campers while at camp
  • o Actively participate in activities for campers
  • o Plan and implement fun and engaging activities for campers while at camp
  • o Build on the foundation of Jewish values held by the JCC
  • o Be proud of the program and curriculum that you put together and implement
  • o Fully participate in staff training and weekly meetings.
  • o Participate in activities with the children in the program throughout the day. This includes eating lunch, participating in singing, and being part of arrival and dismissal procedures.
  • o Lead an age-appropriate Shabbat service every Friday during the camp season
  • o Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • o Empower counselors and campers to enjoy their subject matter.
  • o Have the capacity to plan curriculum before camp begins.
  • o Lead many groups in activities and assist the Camp Director and Assistant Director in planning and executing a diverse and developmentally appropriate schedule including theme days and special events.
  • o Be responsible for working with the counselors, Camp Director, and Assistant Director to communicate projects and curriculums.
  • o Work with the Camp Director, Assistant Director, and Counselors to maintain positive interactions and communication with camp families.

Qualifications:

  • o Must be at least 18 years old.
  • o Applicants should have at least 3 years of experience working with children in a structured setting.
  • o Must enjoy working with children and be active as well as adaptable to change.
  • o Applicants must be prepared to work in a professional environment and be dependable.
  • o Must show strong leadership skills, enjoy working in a team setting, and have the desire to build relationships with children, parents, peers, and co-workers.
  • o Must be a team player and a strong communicator.
